Biography of Charlie Chaplin

Early life :

Charlie Chaplin was born on 16 April 1889 in London. Mother Hannah Chaplin and father Charles Spencer Chaplin sang and performed at the Senior Music Hall. Charlie had a very difficult childhood except for the first three years. Once when the mother was singing a song, her voice stopped, she could not sing on the stage. The spectators sitting outside started shouting loudly, so the manager killed almost five-year-old Charlie on stage. Thus for the first time, Charlie was exposed to the audience.

She imitated Maa's song in her naive voice which was well received by the audience and coins started raining on the stage. This was Charlie's first earning. Perhaps that's when Charlie's childish mind had invented the principle of humor that in reality the things which cause sadness, become the reason for the humor in the play or film. This is the reason that later Charlie's films depict sorrow, poverty, loneliness, and unemployment. Charlie's childhood went through a lot of trouble due to the separation of his parents.

Due to poverty and misery, Charlie had to live in an orphanage with his mother and brother. As the mother went insane, she and her brother had to live with their father, Charles Spencer Chaplin, as ordered by the court, where he also had to endure the torture of his stepmother. When the mother came back after recovering from the insane asylum, the happiness started coming back with the mother's return in life.

Chaplin's father, Charles Chaplin Sr., was an alcoholic and had little contact with his son, although Chaplin and his half-brother lived for some time with their father and his concubine Lewis at 287 Kennington Road, where a plaque is now the memory of this fact. His half-brother lived there while his mentally ill mother lived at Cane Hill Hospital in Coulsdon. Chaplin's father's concubine sent him to Archbishop Temple Boys' School. His father died in 1901 due to drinking.

Sir Charles Spencer Chaplin was an English comedian and film director. Chaplin, in addition to being one of the most famous actors, was also an important filmmaker, composer, and musician from the early to middle of the Classical Hollywood era of American cinema. Chaplin was one of the most creative and influential figures of the silent film era who acted, directed, scripted, produced, and eventually composed his films.

The work of entertainment spanned 75 years of his life, from being a child performer on the Victorian stage and music hall of the United Kingdom to nearly his death at the age of 88. His high-level public and private life have included both praise and controversy. In 1919, Chaplin co-founded United Artists with Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks, and D.W. Griffith.

In reviewing the book Chaplin: A Life (2008), Martin Sieff wrote: "Chaplin was not just 'big', he was colossal. In 1915, he brought the gift of humor, laughter, and relief to a war-torn world when It was falling apart after World War I. For the next 25 years, during the Great Depression and Hitler's heyday, he continued to do his job. He was the greatest. It is doubtful that anyone ever entertained so many humans more than this. , happiness and relief when they needed it most.

When he turned 12, he had the opportunity to perform in a legitimate stage show and appeared in "Sherlock Holmes" as the page boy "Cat" in collaboration with William Gillette. After this, in 1908, Charlie began a career as a comedian in the Vaudeville Company, which eventually made him the lead actor with the "Fred Carno Repertiere Company" of the United States in 1910.

Charlie Chaplin started his film career in 1914. To set himself apart from other actors in the Sennett films, Chaplin decided to cast a special character. Then a small child walking by Trump was born. The public liked his acting very much. Over the next year, Chaplin appeared in 35 films, including one of the lineup 'Tillis Punctuated Romance', a film which was a complete comedy.

After terminating this contract, Chaplin started working in the "Human Company" in 1915, where he accepted a week for $ 1250. Chaplin did 14 films with this company. Chaplin's character has been established as the expected hero. When he saves a farmer's daughter from robbers, it was generally his first classic film.

There was also a visit in Charlie's life when he was seen taking the Left side in meetings and seminars. The press accused Charlie of being a Russian agent. There were ten years in Charlie's life, in which the American government and media were always the cause of trouble for Charlie. Charlie's film Limelight was released in 1952 but was banned in the US.

Charlie was very fond of America, so he went away from his homeland England too, but America's absurdity shook him to the core. His wife Una Onil also gave up the citizenship of America and moved to London with Charlie, but due to not getting the right house there, they started living in Switzerland. It was here that Charlie met Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi. Nehru was the Prime Minister of India at that time.

Charlie was also honored with many awards in life. In 1929 Academy Honorary Award was given for The Circus. In 1972, he was decorated with the Life Time Academy Award. In 1952, the Best Original Music Score award was received for Limelight. In 1940, he was awarded the New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Actor for his performance in The Great Dictator. In 1972, he was awarded the Career Golden Lion Lifetime Achievement Award.

Charlie's fame is such that, during the Oscar Awards in the year 1995, The Guardian newspaper conducted a survey to find out who is the most favorite hero of film critics and audiences, so surprised to see the survey report that, after Charlie's death, Two decades later, Charlie was still most people's favorite hero. It would not be an exaggeration to say that Charlie still lives in the hearts of almost everyone, his acting also makes today's generation happy. Even today many actors imitate his acting.

(Charlie Chaplin Quotes)

Some of the thoughts of Charlie Chaplin are as follows-

A day without humor is a waste.

A gentleman, a poet, a dreamer, and a lonely man, often expect romance and adventure.

If you just get a smile, your life will become meaningful.

If people leave you alone, your life will be better.

True love is the most beautiful of all disappointments because it can be expressed more than once.

I don't believe in what they want, that's the conclusion I've drawn from my career.

To really laugh, you must have the ability to play with your pain.

Humor is a tonic for pain relief.

Despair is a drug, it disturbs the mind in apathy.

We think more and feel less.

People's hatred will end, the taunters will die, and the power they have taken away from the people will be returned to the people. In the end, everything is a joke.

I believe that doing the wrong thing at the right time is the irony of life.

My pain may be the reason for someone's laughter, but my humor should never be the reason for anyone's pain.

You can't do anything without imagination.

Life can be great if you don't fear it.

I am at peace with God, my struggle is with man.

Failure is not necessary, it gives you the courage to make a fool of yourself.

The mirror is my best friend because he never laughs when I cry.

I believe in laughter and tears as the cure for hatred and terror.

Nothing is permanent in this wicked world – not even our troubles.

It is easy to help a friend in need, but he does not always have the opportunity to give his time.

The saddest thing I can imagine is the loss of luxury.

I am for the people, I cannot help them.

Life is a drama, in which trials are not allowed. So singing, crying, dancing, laughing, and love should be done intensely. Before anyone closes the curtain and the segment ends with applause.

All my movies side by side with a plan to get into trouble, so allow me to seriously look like a simple gentleman.

To be a genius, I don't need drugs. A genius knows this, but I need your smile to be happy.

In the light of our arrogance, we have come down from the throne of kings.

All I need is a park, a policeman, and a beautiful girl to make a comedy film.

I always like to walk in the rain, so no one can see me crying.

Dictators free themselves but make people slaves.

I didn't know anything about the character. But as soon as I got ready, the clothes and makeup started to make me feel like that person. I got to know him and by the time he went on stage, he was fully born.

We all want to help others. People like it too. We should be happy in each other's happiness, not in each other's poverty.

Why should poetry have to make sense?

This is a cruel world and you have to be merciless to face it.

Actors seek to be rejected, if they do not find it, they turn themselves down.

Women with brown hair create problems, they are even more bloodthirsty than Jews.

Compared to history books, there are even more valid facts and information in works of art.

That's the trouble with the world. We all hate ourselves.
