Invisible Medicine for Mental Health
Invisible Medicine for Mental Health
Mental problems are increasing in the world.
Positive thinking, a disciplined lifestyle and practices like yoga, meditation, pranayama are invisible medicines for mental illness.
When we say medicine, we immediately think of tablets, capsules, solutions or injections. The main purpose of medicine is to solve any health problem. The job of medicine is to cure a disease in a simpler way.
Mental problems are increasing day by day in the world. Scientists who invented medicine for depression are themselves going through depression, people who are dedicated to inventing against insomnia, restlessness and mental unrest are themselves unable to sleep without taking sleeping pills. There are many such problems that no medicine invented till date can cure them.
The easiest way is to give sleeping pills. Some of the medicines given to manage mental problems are also causing more problems.
Many modern medicines provided by the development of science and technology have brought about a great revolution in the world. But for some diseases, medicine is not needed at all. Many things can be solved with just positive thinking, a disciplined lifestyle, and proper management of daily life.
Positive thinking is an invisible medicine for staying mentally and physically healthy.
The idea that one should have a positive mindset to make life stress-free and free from mental illness is not today's. Even if we look at the dialogue between Krishna and Arjuna in the Hindu scripture Gita, there is guidance on this.
Krishna tells Arjuna, 'You only do your prescribed work, do not show attachment to the fruits of your work.' It is said that if you become weak in the fruits of your work before doing it, you cannot be successful. The message of this saying is that you should fulfill your duty and enjoy what you have in the present.
Nowadays, people seem to be more worried about the future than being happy and enjoying what they have. Now, if we look at many people around us, they seem to be more worried than necessary about preparing for the future.
Thinking too much about the past or the future makes it impossible to do the right thing in the present, and then there is no good result. Ultimately, people go through various types of mental problems.
Running after the restlessness of the mind, unable to control it with the intellect, physical, mental and social events are happening due to the desire for uncontrolled sensual pleasure.
Reading the Gita for positive thinking is very beneficial. Reading Khaptad Baba's book "Science of Thought" is also good for positive thinking. Things like positive thinking, living in the present, yoga, meditation, pranayama are invisible medicines for mental illnesses. These are no less effective than the medicines we take.
The human body has its own characteristics.
You are happy with small happiness. Sometimes your appetite disappears, and even when you feel hungry during happiness, you are getting energy to work.
Another argument is that small worries cause problems like headaches, tingling feet, increased body temperature, dry mouth, changes in heart rate. The energy in the body is also lost. The body becomes relaxed.
If we can keep ourselves neutral in small joys and small sorrows, we can live a balanced life. That is why the Gita has inspired us to remain in an equal mood (samatto) in every situation.
To understand a healthy life as a whole, let us also look at what Ashtanga Yoga has to say.
There are eight limbs of Ashtanga Yoga: Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi. Yama talks about moral discipline. Such as: non-violence, truth, non-stealing, celibacy, freedom from greed, etc.
Similarly, the second one emphasizes Niyama, i.e. personal discipline. Which includes physical cleanliness, being content with the present moment, practicing discipline, engaging in study and bowing down to a higher power.
Most diseases are spreading today as a result of insufficient physical cleanliness. If we take a bath every day, pay attention to the cleanliness of our hands, feet, nails, hair, clean our mouth, and keep our living room and surroundings clean, we will automatically get rid of most health problems.
Do we need to take any medicine to do any of these things?
Then, emphasis is placed on asana. To keep the body healthy and to be able to sit in one asana for a long time, it is necessary to have flexibility in the body.
Similarly, emphasis is also placed on practicing pranayama, or breathing control. Sometimes, if you get angry or restless, take a long breath. Try to hold it for a moment as long as you can by taking a long breath. Repeating this sequence 8-10 times will calm your mind.
Similarly, Ashtanga Yoga emphasizes control over the senses, or pratyahara. Most of the incidents in society are happening because of the uncontrolled enjoyment of the senses and the rush to get happiness from there. Even though we know that a food is good, we eat it for taste and satisfaction. And that leads to various problems. That is why Ashtanga Yoga says to control the desires of the senses.
A person cannot meditate without being proficient in these above things. There is a lot of talk in the market about meditation these days. But unless we practice these above things, the restless mind cannot remain stable in one place.
Hearing such things seems normal, but they are very meaningful for a healthy life. Healthy, If you want to live a happy, joyful life, it is necessary to practice the above things. These are the solutions to the problems that arise in our daily physical, mental and social lives.
Why not have a positive mindset that does not cost any money? Why not adopt habits and lifestyles that we can adopt in a normal way?
