Italy beat England 3-2 in a penalty shootout in the final at Wembley on Monday morning to win the Euro Cup after 53 years. Italy won the title after goalkeeper Gianluigi Donarumba saved England's Bukayo Saka's last penalty.

When Italy won the title for the second time in the 60-year history of the Eurocup, England was limited to runners-up when they reached the final of the big tournament after 55 years.

Italy had earlier won the Euro in 1968. England won the World Cup in 1966 and reached the Euro Cup final for the first time in this edition.

Italy has become the fourth team to win more than one Euro Cup. Italy had earlier won the Euro in 1968.
