David Warner's half-century helped Australia beat Sri Lanka to their second consecutive victory in the ICC T20 World Cup.

Australia defeated Sri Lanka by seven wickets in the Group A match of the Super 12 on Thursday. After winning for the second time in a row, Australia is in second place with 4 points from 2 games. England, who have won just two games, have the same number of points but are ahead in the run rate.

This is Sri Lanka's first defeat to Bangladesh in the first match of the Super 12.

After Warner scored a half-century, Australia completed the target of 155 runs in 17 overs losing 3 wickets. Warner played 42 balls and scored 65 runs with the help of 10 fours.

Warner and skipper Aaron Finch shared 70 runs for the first wicket to give Australia a good start. Finch played 23 balls and scored 37 runs with the help of 5 fours and 2 sixes.

Glenn Maxwell, batting at number three, was dismissed for five runs. Steve Smith scored an unbeaten 28 off 26 balls. Marcus Stoinis added an unbeaten 16 runs off 7 balls with the help of 2 fours and 1 six.

For Sri Lanka, Vanindu Hasaranga took 2 wickets for 33 runs in 4 overs while captain Dasun Sannaka took 1 wicket.

Earlier, after losing the toss in Dubai, Sri Lanka had scored 154 runs for the loss of 6 wickets.

Kushal Perera and Charitha Asalanka scored 35 runs each for Sri Lanka. Similarly, Bhanuka Rajapaksa played unbeaten 33 runs off 26 balls.

Right to Match (RTM) will not be used this time. Earlier, the franchise from RTM could return its player to the team even if it was taken by another team.
